Sai Kung Hike to Big Wave Bay #2

I've been following a blog that posts everything from fashion/art/shopping to places/food/clubbing and parties in Hong Kong. last week there was a post about a hike.. and i thought i could use one last hike before I left hong kong. So my roommate, another friend, and i went on this hike which ended in big wave bay #2 (i say #2 bc there is a big wave bay on hk island and another one in the new territories, which is the one we went to today)

Here's the map (not too clear but.. thought i'd post it anyway. there are better pictures on the other blog linked above)

ahh look at the people. :P there were actually no waves when we got there.

beginning of the hike

amazing views on the hike

almost there!

little houses at the end of the hike

rocks on shingled roof..

we made it. and it was beautiful.

panoramic view..

there were tons of crab holes and their spit balls.. as well as a ton of starfish (not pictured)

We had to take a taxi to get to the hike from sai kung b/c we missed the last bus :(. and we had to take a taxi back to sai kung from the hike b/c we got there when the last bus was leaving.. haha. But we bumped into 2 other polyu students (so random) and shared a cab with them on our way back (5 way split = much cheaper fare.. and yes, you can have 5 passengers in a taxi in hong kong)

If this was my last day in HK I'd be satisfied. However, i will be back from japan next monday.. havent decided how i'll spend my last day... probably packing?

on lan street, hk

On Lan street in HK is lined with highend designer boutiques
I have been planning to go see them for a while now.. I finally went yesterday.
I was able to go through just about every store i had on my list plus some others:
martin margiela
comme de garcons
dsquared
mihara yasuhiro
neighborhood
billionaire boys club
anne demulmeester

you arent allowed to take pictures inside the shops, on top of that i was running out of memory and the battery on my camera was dying.. so the pictures i was able to get arent the greatest but.. here they are :)

Christian Louboutin

mihara yasuhiro

billionaire boys club - icecream shop

martin margiela

Comme De Garcons top floor
this picture was tricky to get.. the shop lady kept following us..

each shop was so different and creative.. i loved it.
it was also a great feeling to touch and see such amazingly designed and ridiculously expensive clothing. Like.. 90USD for a printed t-shirt and over 1000USD for anything else.

I would say my favorite clothes were from anne demulmeester and my favorite shop design was.. martin margiela

I also visited the joyce store on queens road where they were having Jun Takahashi’s Undercover GRACE photo exhibition. The security guy was standing right infront and wouldnt let us take pictures.. even from outside.. :( It was cool tho. it was like.. furry little animals with weird light bulbs as eyes..

Thailand

I went to Phuket, Thailand April 24-28
I only have a few pictures and my friends haven't posted theirs yet .. so mine will have to do for now.

First thing we did was take a 2min walk to the beach :)

our hotel (sugar palm)

i guess this was how they sorted laundry..

street outside our hotel.. super touristy but still pretty local feeling..

first meal in thailand - burger.. i know.. not very thai but it was good

the place we booked all our excursions

Day 2 rented motorbikes and watched the simon cabaret

the show was pretty entertaining
and the lady boys were beautiful.. their voices not so much.

delicious pad thai.. :)

Day 3 excursion to the phi phi islands

amazing beaches/ water/ sand/ mountains/ and views

4 americans + 1 mainlander

I went snorkling for my first time ever. saw some amazing coral, beautiful fish, and got to swim with sharks 3 -4 feet long... seriously.

Day 4 excursion to central thailand

riding elephants :)

canoeing

we had our lunch at a getaway cottage far far from the city.. it was beautiful.

saw lots of monkeys that day

random cave statues..

delicious food provided on our excursion

Day 5 sightseeing

extras

banana chocolate pancakes for 30 bhat ... SO DELICIOUS
i had 4 while i was there.

thai version of yakult .. just as delicious as the original

thai cars... had these little markings on the front roof

sometimes we took these tuk tuks instead of taxis.. they're kind of like rickshaws

On the last night (day4) we celebrated one of our friend's birthday. We took a tuk tuk to rock city in patong, did some bar hopping and saw a bunch of more lady boys, went back to the beach by our hotel around 2..3am? the water was so warm, the sky was so clear, and we could see so many stars.. it was amazing, then we went back to our hotel pool, splashed around and watched stars for another hour or so, and then retired for a small nap before packing up the next morning for sightseeing.

in summary....
thailand has so many beautiful places to see and fun things to do. the food is great. things are relatively cheap. but some of the people there are really sketch.
